Donny Osmond will return to Broadway to play Gaston in the final performance of Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on July 29, a spokesperson has confirmed. Osmond revealed his plan to come back for Beauty's last night during a performance of his current cabaret show at Feinstein's at the Regency.
Osmond enjoyed a successful three-month run as the villainous Gaston last fall, leaving the show on Christmas Eve. He previously appeared on Broadway in Little Johnny Jones and toured for several years in. Disney recently announced that Beauty and the Beast will close after more than 13 years to make room for its forthcoming production of The Little Mermaid.
The current cast of Beauty and the Beast includes Anneliese van der Pol as Belle, Steve Blanchard as the Beast, Stephen Buntrock as Gaston, John Tartaglia as Lumiere, Jeanne Lehman as Mrs. Potts, Jonathan Freeman as Cogsworth, Jamie Ross as Maurice, Meredith Inglesby as Babette, Mary Stout as Madame de la Grande Bouche, Aldrin Gonzalez as Lefou and Trevor Braun and Marlon Sherman alternating as Chip.
